Federally Qualified Community Health Center Serving 30,000 Patients Annually Continues Financial Revitalization
WORCESTER, MA. – Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW), a leading community health center in Central Massachusetts, today announced a $1.2 million budget surplus for the 2023 fiscal year. The positive financials are aligned with the financial and operational goals outlined in the federally qualified community health center’s Better Together strategic improvement plan. The Fiscal Year 2023 budget surplus was made official at the July 2023 Board of Directors Meeting. As part of the July meeting the board of directors also voted to accept the financial audit for Fiscal Year 2022, with no items requiring further action. 
“This surplus is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our staff,” said Louis Brady, president & chief executive officer of FHCW. “Throughout our Better Together strategic improvement process, our team helped us chart a course toward a revitalized, sustainable future. After implementing new processes, new technologies, and strategic hires, I am proud to say those efforts are yielding significant results. I am grateful to the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers for their guidance, our dedicated patient community for trusting us with their care, and our partners in the city and state legislature.”
The surplus was achieved through a number of factors, including:
- The enduring support of the community, state, and local leaders, who have helped ensure that FHCW has the resources to provide quality healthcare to all.
- The decisions made last year to reduce FHCW’s operational footprint and refocus the mission in the city of Worcester.
- Implementation of a new finance team, systems, and processes under the leadership of CFO Dr. Yinka Fadahunsi.
