Health Center Leader Announces Retirement Plans

Worcester, MA – July 11, 2018 – Frances M. Anthes, President and CEO of Family Health Center of Worcester, Inc., announced today that she will be stepping down on December 31, 2018 after 27 years with the health center. Ms. Anthes joined Family Health Center in 1991 as Deputy Director and was named President/CEO in January 1997.

“My love for and commitment to Family Health’s work of providing comprehensive health care to patients, regardless of their ability to pay, has inspired me and given me the opportunity to work together with a wonderful team to create access to health care for individuals and families throughout Greater Worcester,” said Anthes. “Family Health is in a strong financial position and I will be working with our Board of Directors, our experienced executive management team and our local, state and federal partners to provide for a smooth and effective transition in leadership.”

Family Health Center of Worcester is a 501c(3) nonprofit health center which provides comprehensive, quality health services at 16 locations throughout Worcester and South Worcester County.

“The Board of Directors is grateful to Fran for her many accomplishments during her tenure at Family Health Center,” said Lynda Rowe, board chair. “Of note was the doubling of the health center capacity in 1991 when the Worcester City Hospital closed. Family Health has grown from 6,500 patients and a budget of $2.3 million, to our current 36,000 patients and $40 million budget today,” said Rowe. “We are so proud of all that has been accomplished under Fran’s leadership.”

Established in 1972, Family Health Center of Worcester’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of all residents in the Greater Worcester area, especially culturally diverse populations, by providing access to affordable, high quality, integrated, comprehensive, and respectful primary health care and social services, regardless of patients’ ability to pay. Family Health is a teaching health center with residency programs to train the health care workforce. The health center is a primary care patient-centered medical home that provides family medicine, dentistry, nursing, behavioral health, vision care, walk-in urgent care, prenatal and OB care, outpatient addiction treatment services, school health centers, nutrition services and education, HIV/AIDS care, refugee and immigrant health programs, pharmacy, x-ray, mammography, onsite lab services, and insurance enrollment support. Family Health employs 400 community residents, and offers public health programs directed at early detection and disease prevention.

Family Health Center of Worcester’s Board of Directors has retained the executive search firm Witt/Kieffer to assist with the search.
