Board Chair Joseph Scardino, Esq. Honored with Mass League Award

Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW) today announced that Board Chair Joseph Scardino, Esq. received the prestigious Community Health Center Board Member Award from the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (Mass League). The award was presented at the Annual Awards Gala on Friday, June 7, 2024, at The Westin Copley Place in Boston, MA.

The Mass League Annual Awards Gala is the largest yearly gathering of community health centers in the Commonwealth, celebrating the commitment, innovation, and success of health centers across the state. This event embodies the Mass League’s mission to achieve health equity for all, recognizing the efforts of workforce members and organizations that play a critical role in this achievement.

Joseph Scardino joined the FHCW Board in June 2003 and has faithfully served for 20 continuous years. In October 2020, he took on the role of Board Chair and is currently serving his fourth term in this position. Joe’s journey with FHCW began in his role as an HR attorney at Fletcher Tilton, where he provided critical HR consulting services. His contributions were instrumental in establishing the foundational infrastructure for FHCW’s Human Resources department.

Despite the challenges of his demanding legal practice and his role as Chair of the Planning Board for the town of Stoughton, Mr. Scardino remained a dedicated leader and vocal advocate for FHCW. He consistently contributed to the organization’s annual fundraiser, Art in the City, and led his fellow board members by example with his time, talent, and treasure.

Upon receiving the award, Joseph Scardino expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored to receive this award. It represents my lifelong dedication to the mission of Family Health Center of Worcester. While this award bears my name, the honor truly goes to the hundreds of hardworking staff members at Family Health Center who provide high-quality healthcare to over 30,000 patients in 78 languages each year.”

Lou Brady, CEO of Family Health Center of Worcester, added, “Joe Scardino has been an invaluable member of our team. His unwavering commitment and leadership have significantly contributed to our success in providing comprehensive healthcare services to our diverse patient population. We are thrilled to see his dedication recognized with this well-deserved award.”
